A Window Closes and a Door Opens (or something like that)

Spencer and Abbie wanted to take one last walk through the city before getting on the bus at the train / bus / taxi station to go to the airport. If they have had as much fun as I did then it was a great trip.

After Spencer and Abbie left I had a couple of hours to get the linen changed and the apartment cleaned for the arrival of my best friends, Kim and Carl. When I got back up to the apartment I had a nice surprise in that Spencer and Abbie had changed out all of the linens, made the beds and cleaned up the bathrooms. All I had to do was drink cafes and eat pastry. Thank you Spencer and Abbie for spending the week with me and the bottle of Lemoncello in the freezer will be enjoyed with many people in the coming weeks.

Well, about 2 hours later I got a call on my cell phone from Carl saying he was in my front yard and was wondering where I was. Carl had found his way to the apartment. We clearly needed to celebrate that achievement with food.

In honor of Kim and Carl arriving the church band came out to welcome them. Very nice I thought.

I caught Kim looking out the window of the apartment.

Saturday was a long day to Kim and Carl needed time to rest and unpack.

I thought I might use some of todays space to show the tolerance of Florentines for art for art’s sake. You find individual works of art everywhere. They are there because someone thought the space required it.

Bumble bees protecting a Queen?

There will be more local art to come in future posts.
